•CPPCC Standing Committee closes: Wang Ning removed and membership revoked; three others lose membership

Xinhua (about 18:23) reported that the 19th session of the Standing Committee of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) closed in Beijing on the afternoon of 4 November. CPPCC Chairman Wang Huning chaired and spoke, urging study and implementation of the fifth plenum and making preparation for the 21st Party Congress the CPPCC's 2027 main line. By vote the meeting adopted decisions that Shen Changyu would no longer serve as a CPPCC Standing Committee member and that his resignation as a CPPCC member was accepted; that Wang Ning was removed as a Standing Committee member and as deputy director of the Foreign Affairs Committee and that his CPPCC membership was revoked; and that Zhang Jianming, Yu Yanhong and Wang Tongzhou had their CPPCC membership revoked. Yicai carried the readout. Lianhe Zaobao (about 19:21) identified Wang Ning as a former People's Armed Police (PAP) commander and PAP general who had held the CPPCC posts since March 2023 and had already missed the March 'two sessions'; his predecessor Wang Jianping fell in 2016 and successor Wang Chunning was expelled from the party and military last year, making three consecutive PAP commanders in trouble. Zaobao said Shen is a former CNIPA chief still called 'comrade' in the readout, unlike Wang Ning and the others; Zhang chairs Sichuan Mingyu Group, Yu formerly served at the National Health Commission and as head of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Wang Tongzhou formerly chaired China Communications Construction and was reportedly taken away in June 2025. Hong Kong's on.cc also reported Wang Ning's removal. Share · Copy
